Community moment

29 February 2020

The other night I was knitting while dinner was in the oven. The doorbell rang and I assumed it was a late delivery of some new shoes. But it wasn't. It was my neighbor and her son and their dog, on the way home from the dog park on a clear but chilly evening. They were wondering what the planet was that was so bright in the sky and they knew our house would be able to help them out. G came out and within a few moments he had one of his telescopes set up and a mini star party was happening. Everyone got a look at the crescent moon and Venus and then we said good night. It was reminder, in the course of a difficult week, what living in a community can be and a very good reminder to look up more often.
